EXPLANATION OF HOW MY INITIAL IDEAS EVOLVED FROM RESEARCH TO FINALISED CONCEPTS.
My initial idea was inspired by the recent death of the rock legend, the prince of darkness Ozzy Osbourne. l wanted to create a music festival webpage that will be a tribute music festival to Ozzy Osburn music festival to attract rock and metal enthusiasts as well as to attract Ozzy Osborne fans.
However, after conducting research, I realised that the majority of the respondents wouldn't attend a tribute music festival. l created a mock-up of what l would like for it to look like but l soon realised that l wasn't using the feedback of my research .l then later came up with a pop music festival that followed the feedback of the primary research which showed that the majority of the respondents were 18 years old or under which is mainly students .This led to the concept of a back- to -school pop music festival that is inspired by year books , magazine and the overall high school experience .
RESEARCH AND IDEATION
I conducted primary research by creating a research questionnaire with a mix of close-ended and open-ended questions such as the following questions asking about their gender ,age ;the likelihood of attending a tribute concert, where they live ,how they would like to purchase a ticket ,how likely they would attend a week long music festival ;how likely they would attend a Ozzy Osbourne music concert were different band would perform as a tribute .As well as questions that ask about their website user experience with the following questions: which colour they would associate with a rock legend such as Ozzy Osburn ; website preference , what make a rock/meta music website stand out , which font style would they prefer for headings ,which logo they like better for a music festival, what position they would prefer the social media icon to be positioned in a website where they would prefer to see the footer and last but not least where would they prefer the music website to have a link that took them directly to the merchandise store or for it to be the same webpage .
I also conducted secondary research in addition to my primary research by using online sources to research what a music festival is and the different types of music festivals and what a website is as well as what the purpose of a website is and what the components of a website are and the different types of a website's also did research of different music festivals such as HELLFEST ,DAMNATION , BLOODSTOCK,LOLLAPALOZA AND COACHELLA.
The feedback that l received from the questionnaire gave me showed that the respondents aren't keen on attending a music festival that is a tribute to Ozzy Osburn nor would they attend a week-long festival but they would associate Ozzy Osburn with a black background with a grey font and the for the website they would prefer to purchase a ticket online through the events website , a one page scrolling website , with an ancient runes and old Celtiberian font ,with horizontal social media icons and a footer at the bottom of the webpage with a link that lead to a different page for the merch store.
The questionnaire feedback lead me to develop two ideas : a Ozzy Osburn tribute music festival because 55 % of the respondents enjoy rock and roll music and the tribute festival has rock and roll artists but l also come up with a pop music festival idea with artists from the uk and with world wide of different music genres and that isn't a tribute and catering to all ages.
The research that I conducted also helped guide in preparation for future development of a website which should be a one- page-scrolling website with a different page for the merch store , with the tickets being purchased straight from the website , a footer at the bottom and for the social media icons to be positioned horizontally.
