Week 7: FINAL MAJOR PROJECT
PROGRESS MADE FROM LAST WEEK.
I made a storyboard of what l would like the opening scene
of for my video game idea for the floor is lava.
I made this storyboard which has details about the game
story from the call to 911 dispatch caller to the dispatcher calling the fire
fighter to go to the location where the active volcano is located with a fire
truck but them having to use a helicopter at the end to reach the cave entrance
into a volcano then with the menu option showing up with a start to save
civilisation as a button.
I also have started the game development stage with creating
a game background for my Ancient Pharoah game idea which are the two images
below the first one being my practise on to get a hang of using photoshop .
For the second image I went with a different approach of using
a reference image and uploaded the image to a colour palette generator to get
the colour palette to help creating a sense of a realism. Below is the reference
image that I uses to create a the background image.
I ended up using the second image to be the background of
game on flowlab by using one of the assets or blacks that are already provide
and then editing it by uploading this image on the block.
I then created a pixel of a camel which I plan to include in
game because nothing more screams Egypt like a camel . I plan on creating a
animation of it so that it can just move around but I would add a behaviour for
the character to pass through it with no trouble.
I had a play on Piskel to try to create my main game
character to implicate that she is sitting on her throne but I didn’t like the
pixel as much because it doesn’t match what I would like my character to look
like and it opposes my character board that I had created it was fairly easy to
create the character as Piskel offers a mirror or duplicate option which
allowed me to draw the throne and the stair case in a matter of minutes.
I also created a pixel of a mummy that will be the enemy in
the video game I tried to replicate a bondage effect for it to look like a
realistic mummy in a sense but I struggled to as the app doesn’t offer a pencil
option that is not a block so l couldn’t just add a pencil detail to show that
the mummy is wrapped bandages rather than the mummy looking like his wearing white
pants and a t-shirt.
BREAK l THROUGHS MADE.
I was browsing through YouTube when I learn about isometric
pixel art as well as how to create TOP DOWN PIXEL ART STYLE I like the way it
gives a game a sense of reality and how its not easy or to complex to create as
it is very similar to creating or drawing 3D shapes for example on the first
screenshot the creator was creating Isometric pixel art of a house when he was
drawing it he drew a cube and simply add more details to get the final product which was a two story
house.

The videos above basically talk about how to create
isometric art for beginners it also talk about how isometric art is used in video
games as well how to add more details like creating a shadow effect or adding
windows to make it more realistic in a sense.

ANYTHING I FOUND HARD.
I experienced a minor technical issue my photoshop froze up
while loading so it wouldn’t stop loading and I could close or reopen it
again for a good 30 minutes till I had
to hop on google and it gave me a solution which was that I just had to open up
task manager then go to photoshop app option and click end task then re-open it
again.
I also had trouble finding a solution on how I could add
background layer on flowlab but I watched YouTube videos to help me out.

The above videos talk about how to create a background layer
on flowlab .
PLANS FOR NEXT WEEK.
Next week I plan on create another background layer for my
second game idea .l also plan on creating the pixel art of the enemies for my FLOOR
IS LAVA game idea which is creating the Human shark mutant with a shark having
a human body appearance ,shark mutant with lava and molten as the main body as
well as creating a jelly fish .l also plan on recreating the background layer
for my first idea because I plan on add pillars on the background so that its
not interactive with the character .
I also plan on creating a drawing of my mutant enemies for
my FLOOR IS LAVA idea. I have to also create a drawing of my level layout cause
although l have created mood boards on what I want the levels to look like I have
talked or created a visualisation on how I would like for it to look in the game’s
also plan on watching videos of different video games being played to get more
ideas for both my video games.
